Foraging for Food and Stories in Folklife Magazine

The 5th issue of the Gulf Islands lifestyle magazine, Folklife, is now out and contains my creative non-fiction essay: Foraging for Food and Stories - Keeping Traditional Knowledge Alive.

A few years ago I worked on a project with the Galiano Food Program and the Penelekaut. This essay is about one of the boat trips back from their island, and my reflections on our changing ecology. It also includes a recipe for Pickled Bull Kelp, should you want to try and make your own.

Pick up a copy from your local bookstore or coffee shop or order the issue directly from the Folklife Website. And a huge thank you to Kris Krug for the amazing photography.
